Many of you who know Floofybutts Club from our events and Instagram would’ve known that we sell plenty of fixed designs of dogs beings dogs, cats being cats. However, we initially kicked off our illustration phase with custom commission requests of our friend’s pets!
It started with Kenzo’s ( our doggo ) friend group, consistng of Bichons and Maltipoos, then custom requests of friends of friends! This gave us the confidence to do for popular breeds first before proceeding to do breed-specific designs under the Uncanny Floof Collection. After that, we did receive multiple requests for either a. Mixed Breeds b. Breeds we rarely heard of in Singapore.
We had to prioritise
Both groups have different challenges to accomodate for. Mixed breeds tend not to be standardised, just take a look at pomskies and doodles! There’s also many pure breeds in existence, imagine drawing for exponentially proportionate number of breed combinations!!!
For rare/obscure breeds in Singapore, we as business owners are worried there may not be many out there that would purchase our designs, so naturally constraining ourselves to an obscure breed whilst having other business needs on the table isn’t rational.
Naturally, we often recommend that if you’d like a drawing that match your pet’s likeness as closely as possible, it’s best to request a custom commission from us. Aside from the slightly higher price-point and longer lead-time, some floof owners would much rather have a “Team Breed X” tee to feel a stronger sense of solidarity and community.
Despite these challenges, we’ve devised a win-win strategy for us and these under-represented breeds: going back to our custom roots!
Mixed breed campaign: Havanese Launch
Havaneses are relatively unheard on in Singapore. One Havanese owner reached out to us and we struck an agreement as follows:
- Pawrents should gather 8 or more doggos to commission illustration by us to be placed on a shirt to be purchased
- Each pawrent would pay for the price of a regular shirt ( cheaper than custom-illustrated tee )
- We have the permission to sell this design with many many doggos as a pure/mixed breed tee
Each dog is effectively a custom commission by us, compiled onto one shirt in a cohesive big design championing that community! As with any commision we do, we do get feedback from the owners for any modifications required to match to their likeness more.
This makes things much more feasible for us, and turns out to be a much more fun way to engage our followers and even feeling more certain whatever we do eventually create is at least validated by these few pawrents first!
The Havanese-centric tee is a success! Just take a look at the many many Havaneses that exist!

Currently as of writing, Cavachon, Cavapoo and Doxiepoo owners have gathered fellow owners for us to commission. This campaign is still ongoing!
